Awesome Asian Bad Guys screened on July 25, 2014 as part of AAIFF14

AAIFF14 Social Media Manager Miranda Canilang listened in on the conversation with Director Patrick Epino, Writer Milton Liu, and Producer Phil Yu (Angry Asian Man).  She shares her favorite quotes below:

Awesome Asian Bad Guys can be categorized as a comedy, but beneath the laughs is an important message about Asian mainstream media representation. Milton Liu grew up as one of the only Asians in Kansas. We can imagine that what he knew about Asians partially came from what he saw about Asians on TV.

We couldn’t agree more with the above, Angry Asian Man.

Shoutout to the Kickstarter supporters who came to the AAIFF screening! Ah yes, we understand the challenges of self-distribution. #independentfilm

Spotted: AAIFF was honored to have actors Ken Leung (Rush Hour), Aaron Takahashi (Awesome Asian Bad Guys), and Cole Horibe (Bruce Lee in David Henry Hwang’s play Kung Fu) watching Awesome Asian Bad Guys at AAIFF14.

What else does Milton Liu do? He’s working on a web series Love Midori!

What else does Phil Yu do? He runs an #AsianAmerica blog and talk show!

Patrick Epino is a filmmaker and co-founder of National Film Society (part of PBS Digital Studios). Patrick Epino and Stephen Dypiangco (the other co-founder of National Film Society and co-director of AABG) run a webseries through YouTube.

Looking forward to a possible Awesome Asian Bad Gals?!?
