ONE DAY IN NEW YORK Videos at the 37th Asian American International Film Festival
A sub-project of the historic ONE DAY ON EARTH media project, ONE DAY IN NEW YORK encourages everyone in New York City to document with his/her camera their exploration of any of the 10 questions listed in relation to all aspects to life in New York on Saturday, April 26th. As an organization devoted to exhibiting media of, for or/and by Asian and Asian Americans, Asian CineVision invites people of Asian descent and anyone interested in Asian and Asian American issues to participate in the collaborative project of ONE DAY IN NEW YORK, and submit their works to Asian CineVision and the 37th Asian American International Film Festival (July 24 – Aug 2, 2014).
Select projects will be featured on our online film blog CineVue in company with other interviews and reviews celebrating the most original Asian and Asian American voices. Moreover, we will also consider these videos for our upcoming Festival (July 24 – Aug 2, 2014).
* Ten Sets of Questions for Asians and Asian Americans in ONE DAY IN NEW YORK
In this regard, we have modified the ten questions with Asian-and-Asian-American bents.
1. Why are you in NYC? Where are you/is your family originally from?
2. What do you love about NYC? Is it in any way related to your ethnic culture? Where or what is your favourite hang-out/food/cultural product?
3. What is the best thing happening in NYC today? In which neighborhood? Are you part of it? Why are you there?
4. What are NYC’s biggest challenges? What would be the biggest challenge to the Asian communities?
5. Do you think communities of Asian descent are being adequately served in NYC?
6. What is the worst thing that could happen to NYC?
7. What are the solutions that need to be implemented?
8. How are people of Asian descent changing the future of NYC?
9. What do you hope for NYC in the next 20 years? How is this hope related to your community?
10. Ask your own question about NYC – creatively!
Except for the ethnic spin to the questions, the general rules of participating in this project are the same.

* Submission of Entry to Asian CineVision and AAIFF’14
After shooting on April 26th, 2014, per requirements of ONE DAY IN NEW YORK, the upload deadline for any edited video is May 26th, 2014. The submission deadline for the 37th AAIFF is May 30th, 2014.
After uploading the video, the submitter needs to upload the name + URL of the video to festival@asiancinevision.org for the work to be considered by AAIFF’14.
