MAKING IT!: THE STORY BEHIND ROBOT STORIES
Directed by GREG PAK
7:00pm
Asia Society and Museum
725 Park Avenue (at 70th Street)

Hear never before told tales straight from the set and the casting room as participants share their personal experiences of the making of ROBOT STORIES as well as the trials and triumphs of "making it" as an Asian American filmmaker and actor in New York City.

The roundtable will be preceded by excerpts from the film, including a screening of "The Robot Fixer," starring Wai Ching Ho and Cindy Cheung, in full. Participants include writer/director Greg Pak, co-producer Karin Chien, actors Wai Ching Ho, James Saito, Cindy Cheung, Julienne Hanzelka Kim, Ron Domingo, Rea Tajiri, and animator Daniel Kanemoto. Moderated by Risa Morimoto, Asian CineVision.

ROBOT STORIES is award-winning Asian American writer/director Greg Pak's first feature film. æThe self-distributed indie hit opened to rave reviews and box office success in New York City earlier this month. Starring Asian American acting powerhouses Tamlyn Tomita ("The Joy Luck Club," "Picture Bride") and Sab Shimono ("The Big Hit", "Suture"), as well as film festival favorite Wai Ching Ho, the debut performance of director Greg Pak, "Robot Stories" is science fiction from the heart, four stories in which utterly human characters struggle to connect in a world of robot babies, robot toys, android office workers, and digital immortality.

students $5, ACV/Asia Society members $7, non-members $10

SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN , WINTER, AND...SPRING
Directed by KIM KI-DUK
7:00pm
Asia Society and Museum
725 Park Avenue (at 70th Street)

When a young monk, only a boy, is found gleefully tying stones to a fish, a frog, and a snake, his master binds a rock to the child's back and instructs him to set each animal free. The master warns that if any creature has died, the boy will carry that stone in his heart forever. Thus commences a journey that will pass through four stages in accordance with the seasons of the monk's life: from love and temptation as a teenager to a terrible misstep and a crime, through his subsequent search for peace of heart, and ultimately to maturity, whereupon he assumes the role of master himself. - John Nein
