INDIAN DRAMA KICKS-OFF ASIAN CINEVISION'S
OPENING NIGHT FESTIVITIES
FOR THE 26th ASIAN AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
FILM FESTIVAL
June 20-29 at the Asia Society & Museum

New York, NY - In celebration of the 26th Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) presented by Cadillac™, Asian CineVision (ACV) announces the New York premiere of A Peck on the Cheek to open the eight-day festival in June. For the second year, the festival will be held at the Asia Society & Museum. The AAIFF is the nationšs oldest and longest running film festival devoted to the works of filmmakers of Asian descent.

Directed by two-time Academy-Award nominee Mani Ratnam, A Peck on the Cheek (Kannathil Muthamittal) is an Indian drama that follows nine-year-old Amuda in her search for her birth mother in war-torn Sri-Lanka. His Excellency Pramathesh Rath, Consul General of India will be presenting the film with producer Gopalaratnam Srinivasan and Lead Actor Ranganathan Madhavan.

Born in Madurai, South India, Mani Ratnam is a two-time Academy Award nominee and has been honored with the prestigious "Padmashree Award" by the President of India.

Asian CineVision, Inc. (ACV) is a not-for-profit national media arts organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Asian and Asian American media expressions. Since 1978, ACV has annually presented the Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) to showcase cinema works by international artists of Asian descent.
