Greg Pak's "Robot Stories" wins Emerging Director Award from
The 26th Asian American International Film Festival in New York

New York, NY - On June 29th, Asian CineVision (ACV) honored New York filmmaker Greg Pak with its second annual Emerging Director Award for his feature film Robot Stories during the 26th Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF). Fashion designer Anna Sui presented the award, an amber-colored hand-blown glass sculpture designed by Arlan Huang.

The Emerging Director award is presented by ACV to honor a first or second time feature filmmaker chosen by audience ballots during the festival. "When we tallied the ballots and got the result that Greg won, we felt it was reflective of the support he has in New York. We are very proud to present the Emerging Director Award to Greg. He's a veteran of the festival and we see his work mature over the years so we're very happy to acknowledge him this way." said Diana Lee, Festival Director.

Robot Stories, billed as "science fiction from the heart," stars Tamlyn Tomita (Joy Luck Club) and Sab Shimono (Suture) in four stories depicting utterly human characters struggling to connect in a world of robot babies, robot toys, android office workers, and digital immortality.

Other nominated films included Charlotte Sometimes, directed by Eric Byler; Conduct Zero, directed by Cho Keun-Sik; Everybody Says I'm Fine, directed by Rahul Bose; Flavors, directed by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru; Marriage is a Crazy Thing, directed by Yu Ha; and Somewhere Over the Dreamland, directed by Chen Wen-Tang.

Robot Stories, which has also won awards at the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Florida Film Festival, and Asian Film Festival of Dallas, made its New York City festival premiere as the Centerpiece Presentation of the AAIFF to a standing-room only crowd last Thursday. The film screens next as the only US film in competition at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. For more information about Robot Stories, visit http://www.robotstories.net.
